In order to view microbiological specimens under a microscope, it is first necessary to prepare an appropriate microscope slide. In this video, we demonstrate how to prepare and fix a smear of a broth culture of microbes onto a glass microscope slide. We then demonstrate how to perform the Gram stain technique, a very commonly used differential stain.
