This video is a virtual investigation into the use of differential and selective media as a tool to identify the types of bacteria found in spoiled food samples. We use a serial dilution and spread plate technique to inoculate our food samples onto 5 different types of media. We then view those results and compare them to the results expected from certain known bacteria. We have also submitted and accompanying Word document of an assignment that students can complete after watching this video.
